Disability Debate: Technology and sport improve quality of life

On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on Friday, December 3, 2021, the Sports Excellence Department, which operates under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Surgery Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), in collaboration with the Center Stavros Niarchos Cultural Foundation (SNFCC), presents the discussion “Technology and sports improve the quality of life” in the Book Tower of the National Library of Greece at the SNFCC.

The life of a person with a disability, whether motor or mental, acquired or congenital, is accompanied by difficulties that affect every aspect of everyday life. How can the development of technology and the application of new methods, educational and medical, improve the quality of life of both the individual himself and his close environment?

Furthermore, how can sport contribute to improving the quality of life of a person with a disability? How does one get to the Paralympics and what preparation does the mind and body need?

At the event, distinguished scientists from different fields of knowledge and guests analyze and discuss the importance of sports and new technological applications in various forms of disability.

After the end of the discussion, we follow the steps of the “Jambol Agapis” group and the dancers of Elektra Venetsanou in a surprise mixed choreography in the Agora, accompanied by music under the decorated trees of the SNFCC!
