2021 Basketball Reinstatement Proposal

2021 Basketball Reinstatement Proposal

Basketball friends,

The “second time Lock down” deprived and continues to deprive within a few months for another period of time, the sports activity in the basketball teams, which belong to the amateur, child-adolescent sports and the academies. The training and competition goals were overturned and now the future of any competition process is uncertain.

The Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, recently spoke on crete2day and specifically on the “Round Goddess” show, about the resumption of the Super League 2 and Football League championships, as well as about amateur sports. Among other things he said:

“Much will change and evolve, however an indicative date for the resumption of sporting activities has been set at January 7, according to the evidence available. However, with regard to the training part and the gradual restart of the sports facilities or part of them. There are discussions, as long as the indicators and the intensity of the spread of the virus allow us to start gradually and with great care. Unfortunately, we cannot specify in time when. An indicative date has been entered by Mr. Petsa, for a number of objects, branches, including, of course, sports. We hope this is the date of the total restart.

It is for all of us basketball people, a period of our lives, forming strange, unprecedented emotions and managing situations, which we have to face for ourselves, for the children and for the older athletes.

At the same time, the situation with the pandemic in the heart of winter, with the recent restrictions and protection measures, does not show the improvement that was expected.

It should be noted that the basketball community has contributed in a disciplined manner all this time to the effort. Most of the female athletes as well as the female coaches managed the sports apraxia in the best possible way at the given time with the following actions:
Planning and execution of personal training – strengthening programs at home, to maintain their physical and muscular condition as satisfactorily as possible.
Use of Internet technology to meet with teammates and coaching staffs.
Better shaping of life in matters of careful nutrition, study, sleep, social contact with the family circle.
If after the holiday period there are positive developments in the management of the pandemic and the “green” light is given for the resumption of the sporting life of the teams, it is understood that this process will take time and means.

This will possibly be done with very strict protocols.

The reopening of schools after the Christmas and New Year holidays remains under discussion and decisions on its timing are awaited. With the wish that everything goes well, that the end of this period of Lock Down comes with the arrival of the new year 2021 and with absolute respect for the observance of health rules, I propose for the return of basketball to the training and competition areas of the stadiums, the following indicative design.
A proposal of an indicative programming process for the resumption of basketball after such a long period of inactivity.
It is said in basketball coaching language that nothing is absolute, everything is right and wrong, therefore this proposal can be adapted in its design, according to the needs of each geographical area and each age level.
Each organizer can add or remove contents and rearrange the times of each procedure.

My indicative proposal is divided into the following phases:

1st PHASE: Duration 10 to 15 days, with strict distances within the training area. There is individual training (lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes), recovery of physical condition and individual technique. Group gathering even at a distance will gradually bring the team spirit back to the team members. At the end of each training session from a basketball section, for 15 minutes the facility will remain unused and well ventilated. No use of changing rooms will be allowed and everyone will enter and leave individually. The young ages will train 2 times a week and the older ones 3 times a week. The number of training sessions is adjusted in the following phases, depending on the available training hours of each geographical area and sports facilities. The associations cooperate with the municipal bodies for the strict observance of the procedure.
