The single most important aspect of coaching is running effective practices
– Bob Knight
Coaches plan your practices:
Try to teach your young athletes life skills and being prepared as a coach is a great skill to teach.
-
Count the hours you have during the season and think about all the things you want to cover, there’s not a lot of time. Every minute counts.
-
It’s tough to come up with new ideas on the spot so most likely you’ll end up repeating the same drills over and over again. Don’t let your players are bored.
-
Every drill should have a purpose, whether it’s adding something to your offensive system or fixing a problem from the last game. Without planning, the drills don’t tie in with what happens in game.
