
With the unanimous decision of the Monemvasia City Council, following the proposal of the Municipal Community of Neapolis, the name of the Neapolis Municipal Stadium was decided at the Municipal Stadium of Neapolis “Kostas Tsakos”, thus honoring the former Mayor and the athlete of football.
A few words about Kostas Chakos
He was born on October 28, 1935. From 14 years old he dealt with football, playing as a goalkeeper in amateur teams. Over the years he has worked professionally in the field of football as a coach, reaching to the 1st National, in teams such as National Piraeus, Olympiacos Piraeus, Apollon Athinon, Panathinaikos FC.
He founded in 1963 the 1st Football Academy under the name “PO. Zografou “. He was co-ordinator of “Panathinaikos Peania”, the Navy and the National Armed Forces team. Finally, he was a professor of Coaches’ seminars in the EPA, and also as a Director of Training Schools of the EPA.
He was the Director of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President of Chambers’ Associations and Secretary General of the Association of Greek Coaches.
Finally, he was the Mayor of the Municipality of Voi and also the Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Monemvasia.
