Are you a basketball player; don’t you care about your defensive behavior on the court, during a game or training;
Your defensive performance is mainly a matter of pride!
Sometimes is very difficult to stop a great opponents’ score. You as a defensive player, however, you can minimize his or her percentages by playing with your mind on defense.
When a game is going to its final moments and the score between the two teams don’t saw witch team will prevail, every effort in defense will make the difference.
A player plays defense with 3 things:
-
Good brain function
-
Desire
-
Correct movements on feet
Against a good offensive player, your defensive strategy haw to consider the following:
-
What is his favorite kind of shot?
-
From which side on the court receives the ball and takes shoots?
-
Is he/she left-handed or right-handed?
-
In which area likes to move?
-
How he/she uses the weak?
-
What are his/her two most favorite moves?
-
It has good handling of the ball when is under pressure?
-
Does he/she move to claim offensive rebounds?
-
Is he/she playing with post game or with face the rim?
Coaches love the players who play an effective defense.
On the other side if they don’t have a good performance while defending on the game, those players goes to the bench.
Pay attention what a coach asks on defense. See the details on team tactical game. Develop yourself on defensive slides.
Your eyes (peripheral vision) must be able to contact with the ball and your personal opponent.
