The National Deaf Basketball team of Greece since 2000 until today, has won 6 medals at major events (European-World Championships, Olympic Games).
The National Deaf of Men, had the top winning both at European (Patras 2000) and Worldwide (Athens 2002).
Medal conquest became a habit in the years to come, and their harvest culminated with the highest prize of conquering an Olympic medal at the Deaf Olympiad (Taiwan 2009, bronze medal).
The following racing years followed well. Despite the difficult economic times and adversities, the national deaf always found the courage to fight.
He manages to represent the country deservedly in all international competitions, always remaining close to the quartet and medal hunting.
It must be stressed that the deaf basketball is particularly widespread abroad. There are players who compete in major European championships even in the NBA magic world.
But also in Greece the level of athletes is particularly high. Several of these players compete in national categories with a leading role.
For the general public, the achievements of the National Team may not be well known. That is why he is rightly described as the “Unknown National League Team”.
The National Greek Deaf Basketball Greece has secured its participation in the Deaf Olympic Games. The tournament will be held in Turkey from 18 to 30 July 2017.
