INTERNATIONAL BASKETBALL CLINIC

The founder of Special Basketball Education, Coach John Tsoumbris, was one of the speakers at the International Seminar on Developmental Ages, which took place on June 2 and 3, 2023 at the Panhellenic Indoor Gymnasium in Athens.
For the first time in Europe at an international basketball seminar, Special Basketball Education was presented and for the first time 21 athletes with disabilities (autisnm spectrum, down syndrome, μental retardation) participated as a presentation team.
The Hellenic Basketball Coaches Association (SEPK) took a unique step in accepting the children of Special Education.
The president of SEPC, Mr. Panagiotis Giannakis, accepted the proposal of Coach John Tsoumpris (member of the Board of Directors of SEPK) and the speech entitled:
“THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS OF CHILDREN IN AUTISM SPECTRUM THROUGH BASKETBALL TRAINING” was included in the conference program.
Two models of Special Basketball Education training units were presented.
One for beginners and one for advanced kids.
The presentation team consisted of members of “Jump Ball Of Love – Piraeus” and from the organizations “Eurohoope by Eurohhops” and “UniquALL”, whose teaching program is coordinated by John Tsoumpris.
The applause of the delegates was the best reward for the children’s efforts.
At the end of the seminar, Ioannis Tsoumbris was awarded by SEPK for his many years of contribution to Developmental Age Basketball and Special Basketball Education.
